What 回头 (huítóu) Really Means in Spoken Chinese
Literally 回头 means "to turn your head" — but in spoken Chinese it has nothing to do with that. It means "in a bit / another day / sometime later."
Examples
- 回头给我就行 (huítóu gěi wǒ jiù xíng) — just give it to me another day
- 回头再说 (huítóu zài shuō) — let's talk about it later / we'll see
- 回头见 (huítóu jiàn) — see you later / see you around
It doesn't point to a specific day — it just means "later, sometime." When you want to say "some other time," reach for 回头 and you'll sound natural.
